TCWP is hiring a manager for the Stormwater Wetland Program. This position will advance the use of designed stormwater treatment wetlands as a Best Management Practice for water quality and habitat improvement. The Program Manager envisions the direction of the stormwater wetland program and works to make that vision a reality through partnerships and projects. In addition, the Program Manager will work collaboratively with community project partners to identify, plan, fund, implement, maintain, and provide educational outreach on stormwater treatment wetland demonstration sites. Key activities include outreach to stakeholder groups, project partners, and the public; operating TCWP wetland nurseries; recruiting and managing volunteers and staff for workdays and planting events; managing contract deliverables; and applying for grants.
This full-time position is based in Houston, TX at the TCWP office in Clear Lake City. TCWP is a part of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, and the Texas A&M University System. A BS in Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resource Management or similar degree is required. Master’s degree preferred.
Key responsibilities:
Coordinate project partners and subcontractors in all phases of a stormwater wetland project, from initial meetings to planting and monitoring.
Prepare and submit grant proposals. Manage grant contracts, budgets, and deliverables
Operate TCWP wetland nurseries including sourcing and propagating plants.
Prepare and present to stakeholder groups, students, the public and other groups.
Recruit and manage volunteers and staff for workdays and planting events.
Set up and conduct water quality monitoring.
Integrate programmatic efforts with other TCWP programs (Wetland Restoration, Coastal Planning programs, WaterSmart, and Green Infrastructure for Texas)
Prepare and submit publications and reports.
Qualifications:
A BS in Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Natural Resource Management or similar degree is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
Landscape design and hydrology experience is a plus, as well as experience preparing large-scale planting plans, and familiarity with CAD and GIS.
Horticultural experience is a plus.
Graphic skills using Photoshop, Illustrator or similar is a plus.
Work conditions: Candidates must be able to perform in the following conditions.
Working outdoors in summer and winter, lifting loads up to 50 pounds, and walking two miles.
Frequent day travel in the 8-county region around the Houston-Galveston metroplex.
Public speaking to groups ranging in size and demographics.
